2012 VIHSS
THIS YEARS SERIES IS A BEST 6 OF 7 RACING SERIES. ( 1 THROW AWAY).
So here we go again!!!! A second season is among us and everyone is thrilled. Last years season for the VIHSS went very well and every race was successful and very well organized. Congrats to those who put in the efforts to make this series blossom!
But now, it's time for a new year. A year of what who knows is going to come. We were truly blessed with some picture perfect sunny days at pretty much every race. So, hopefully we can keep this trend and have a year like we did last year.
The Series is looking like there isn't too many surprises for different ideas or race venues. We were trying, but it's alot of work to just keep what we have to work with already. Maybe down the road we could expand.
Here we go, THE RUNDOWN!
Round 1, we are back at Boyds pit in sooke near Victoria. Last years race was an excellent first race to really showcase our series and what it is all about, and the type of terrain we race through. With 100 entries with smiling faces, a beautifu day and a super well organized race, start to finish, The Kirk was simply outsanding and will be even more of the same or better for 2012 as there are more people involved and enthuised about racing! Look for a more challenging A section this year the last, but the B loop is more or less the same. No huge surprises from the VMC for this one.
Round 2. To Whiskey Creek we go! The 3rd annual Roots of Doom Hare Scramble brought to you by WCR. The Whiskey Creek riding area has become very well known on vancouver island as a fun single track riding and racing venue. Not the most technical riding area, but to push yourself to the limits through the whiskey trails is definitely a task and after 3-5 laps and 3 hours plus, you will probably not want to move for a while. If you start to really get into a flow in these trails it will make life much easier and inturn, a much more enjoyable ride. Whiskey Creek always brings the best of the best out to race. It is the only island race that is also a British Columbia Off road championship Series race as well.
Round 3, The General Hill. To simply put it: My favorite tight trail racing venue!!! Love this place, love it!!! There is nothing I don't like about this racing and riding area. It has island style riding all over it! WIth the use of the Campbell River motocross track, and endurocross section and a wicked fun 13 km trail loop, it doesn't get much better for a hare scramble loop then there. Not only are the trails super fun because of how they were designed, but the dirt is the best dirt you will find to race on in tight trails. I guess you could say it's like tacky sand. I could imagine the dirt gets pretty loamy and soft in the dry season, but the races we have here are set for when the temperatures are somewhat moist. The General Hill will be a huge hit for the 2012 season!
Round 4, The Titan. The Titan definitely held its name well last year. With the race being in july and wet conditions leading up to the race it made it out to be a very tough and grueling race in multiple ways. I think alot of racers were not quite ready for that last year and really didn't prepare themselves for an ass kicking like some may have had on that day, but, I know now everyone is going to be getting extra prepped and extra motivated for this one. I mean, so many people say they would never do something again if they struggle at it, but dirt bike racers are different. If you don't succeed the first time, you have to come back and conquer your demonds and conquer the Titan once and for all! I really do think the Tansky riding area is very cool and unique riding location and should be shown alot of respect because of the terrain and the countless hours that people have put into this area to make it rideable. You just wait, the Titan is going to be a huge hit soon. Some racers just go to those racers that are deemed the tough one! I sure do!
Round 5 we are back mid island in Nanaimo for the Charlie Horse Hare Scramble! The horse is really the only race on the series that is more moto then trail, which is great. I think everyone had a great time at last years race. being able to jump on the track and a bunch of flat track type stuff , it made racers nervous but excited. The other great part about this race is the spectating, it is amazing around the Wastelands track. Also, the camping and parking is really good and just makes for a fun weekend for everyone. Especially ones with famillies and people who like to camp. We moved the Charlie Horse a few weeks earlier to have a nice warm race. Make sure you work on you whips and bubba scrubs before this doozie! Oh, and I'm sure Stokers will have some tricks up his sleeves before the cannon goes off for this scramble!
Round 6 we're heading back to Whiskey Creek! The Crown Royale Enduro Hare scamble. A name quite fitting for the riding area, and also quite prestigous. We are still up in the air if we for sure want to try out an Enduro type race, or keep with the Hare Scramble format. I personally want to try a format that would consist of both formats. racers would do 1-2 laps enduro style for the first half of the day, then a lunch break, then we alll line up at the start line to head out for a 1-2 lap hare scramble race. then, how you placed in the enduro moto and then the hare scramble moto will be tallied together and give you the overall. Pretty much like how outdoor motorcross races work. I think it could bring a different feel, a different excitement, and a well needed break half way through the day. Either way, round 6 at whiskey will be one to remember!
Round 7, the FINALE!! Back to Campbell River we go! The trick or Treat is the 7th and final round. the MIDR did an outstanding job last year. It was their first ever race they organized and there was a huge amount of work that they did to not only get this race ready, but to also form their new Mid Island Dirt Riders club. Very Professional was the setting and it showed as everything went flawless all day. Other then maybe one thing! All I have to say is LEGEND! Man, that guy is nuts, but is so passionate about this sport and making new stuff, it's really hard to not think the guy is a beauty. When you think of a hare scramble in C.R. you really do think of amazing trails and dirt and,,,,,, the legend! The loop will most likely be reversed to what the General hill will be at the start of the year. Either direction is wicked, so show us what you're made of MId Island Dirt Riders! The Trick or Treat will cap off another great season of racing with friends, famillies, and just all around great people that just love to have a good time on their dirt scooters!!!
Let's go racing Vancouver Island!! Are you ready????
p.s. year end awards will be held no more then a month after the last race this year.

--- Work points: If a racer is hurt or sick and is willing to work a race, racers can still accumulate points from helping out. your races will be tallied up at the end of the year then your average score from those races gives you the amount of work points awarded. ex: if a racer went in 5 races through out the year and placed 2nd in each race then his/ her average would be 25 points ( 25 x 5 races = 125 divided by 5 = 25. The racers year end total would then go from 125 to 150 points at year end. Could be the difference from 2nd to 1st. So, if you're hurt, still come out and help out! It's still alot of fun just to be there.
