Anyone know what the conditions are like up at Inks lake riding area currently? I know that the snow level is probably close but it looks like its been warm in Kamloops for the last few weeks etc. Any Help would be great!! Plan on going up next month.

A few weeks away from riding yet. I live in Aberdeen at the top of the hill (within town limits) and I still have snow in my yard. Easter is usually a good first ride of the year for Inks. Even then you may hit unpassable snow up top. Cheers

Excellent thanks. Only been there once and plan on coming up at the end of April. I hope for warm weather in your area for the next month!! LOL.  How far up do you mean when you say up top? We rode quite a few trails and dont remember to much elevation change etc.  You mean from the low rd to the upper gas line rd etc? Thanks again!! Any idea as what Duffy might be like during the same time?? Probably muddy? Thanks its appreciated!!

There are trails there at the top of the hill, behind the towers that will link to Chewels and Inks, etc. Unbelievable where you can ride too on a big tank of fuel. I've done a loop several times where I unload at inks, ride up to chewels, then across over to greenstone (duffy), and back through to inks. All singletrack, I'd guess at around 80k. A great ride but not beginner friendly. Cheers

Wow that sounds great. We are not beginners. Intermediate or slightly above depending on the day LOL.  I knew there was a ton of trails up there. We got lost trying to find Greenstone and then back again etc. Will have to check it out a little more this year maybe? Thanks

Any Melted snow Yet??

Tlineman's picture

Its brutal, the snow hasn't been melting at all. I rode last weekend for the first time this year over in Batch as its the only spot with no snow. It was 8 degrees today at my house in Aberdeen, there's still over a foot of snow on most of the trails at Inks. Unless we get a warm spell pretty soon, I don't think anyone will be riding there for a while.

Its been pretty cool up here lately, freezing every night and only getting to around +10 in town during the day. There's still lots of visible snow on Greenstone from the highway and I haven't heard of anyone riding at Greenstone / Inks yet. Its suppost to warm up by Thursday, reaching 20 in town by Sat. I'd suspect you'd run into snow before getting very far at either of these riding areas this weekend. Its been a real late spring here in the Thompson / Okanagan.

Yep Thats kinda what I thought!! Thanks for the update though!! Heading up for the weekend at the end of the month so another week and a half to go! Let me know if you get a really warm spell to melt that white crap! LOL. If not I guess Merritt it will b??

Head over to Merritt, riding has been open here for a while in 2 areas and Chattaways thawing fast... the lower trails/hills are all open and great traction right now!!

Will be there on Sunday with a smile on. Chattaway probably. Its more fun than flagpole or the flats.

cool :) yeah I agree, going to try to go there tomorrow or Friday... and maybe out later Sunday afternoon.

Rode there today for a couple hours... in the gully and hills off of it, then across over to the gun range/start line hill from last year and rode the B loop portion on the lower side of the road today. Few trees down across the trail and patches of snow in the shady areas as the elevation got higher, but still easily rideable, and the snow is melting fast :)

Inks will be great buy then. Just got back last weekend and it was fine!! Dusty down low with snow up at the Alpine. It should be golden for you buy this weekend!!

OK. Great.  Thanks for the update!

FYI, Inks was awesome. No snow except for some patches up high. It rained hard Sunday night and we had a heck of a time getting the trailers off the hill in the gumbo mud. But was all good. Loved the riding up there.
