Trail Building Workshop

VIDRA is hosting a workshop for trail design and building techniques that promote sustainable single track.

This is a two-day trail building workshop and is opening a limited number of seats to all dirt bike riders, and other recreational trail users. The workshop will be instructed by master trail builder and educator AJ Strawson from the IMBA.

Sustainable single track trail should be a blast to ride, minimize risk to the environment, and withstand the vigour’s of your sport. This is a unique opportunity to meet other trail users having a passion for outdoor sports, in the wilderness and on trails.

January 9-10 (Saturday and Sunday), 2016. This is a two day commitment.
Locaton:
  • Saturday morning (8am to noon) – Fanny Bay Community Hall
  • Saturday afternoon  & all day Sunday – Cook Creek Riding Area

The workshop will focus on locating, designing, constructing and maintaining sustainable single track trail. Although the information will be tailored to the unique trail building challenges posed by dirt bike riding, the same trail building concepts apply to all user groups that build or maintain natural tread trail, over coastal terrain.

Registration: All participants must register by Friday, January 8, 2016. There is a fee of $60 for the two day workshop for participants that are not VIDRA members. To register contact Debi at sailoret@shaw.ca. I need your name and email address. Your information will be used to contact you if there are workshop changes.

Format of the workshop:
  • Saturday morning (8am to noon) – half day of trail design and trail building theory.
  • Saturday afternoon – apply the new theory and learn new trail building techniques on-the-ground at Cook Creek Riding area.
  • Sunday all day – trail building at Cook Creek Riding area.
