The 3rd round of the 2012 VIHSS is this weekend in Campbell River. The Courtney Motorsports katoom Hare Scramble. The race is located just outside of the Campbell River at the Campbell River Motorcross track.
Last year was the first time ever that there has been a hare scramble trail race at this venue. There were 2 races held here last year. Round 3, and round 7. Both races went exceptionally well, and all racers thoroughly enjoyed both days. In my eyes, this is one of the best Hare Scramble type courses I have seen around B.C. It is a true Hare Scramble race course. If you look in the PNWMA rules book, it states for race organizers a race that is defined a hare scramble it should be anywhere from approximately 8-15 km in length. The loop at C.R. is around 12 km and takes the top elites under half an hour to complete. Which is nice for spectators. More times they see the racers the better. With a full on motorcross track mixed into the loop and a small endurocross section, it really makes for a fun race to watch.
The trails are extremely fun, the dirt is amazing, and the trails keep getting better and better. From every race the berms get bigger, and the overall flow of the trail is increased for less abrupt cornering.
